The playground is now complete and the community will host an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. Sunday.
The property is a half-acre with trees for natural shade, level ground and a renovated bathroom. It was formerly a tee box for a golf hole, Vardaman said.
The land was donated, he said.
“I don’t know how you’d quantify a half acre lot that’s on a small lake but that was a very generous donation by the Bluewater Bay Resort,” Vardaman said. “We couldn’t have a park without land.”
Bluewater Bay was in need of a children’s park, too, Vardaman added.
