Thousands gathered at Parliament House for the Womenâs March 4 Justice. They gathered in every capital city and country town from Torquay (where participants used their bodies to spell out the word ‘Justice’ on the beach) to Taree, from Shearwater to Somerville, from Bunbury to Bundaberg. It was a surprise appearance in Canberra from the 26-year-old, her first since she went public with her story. The crowd was hushed and people sobbed audibly as she composed herself while MC Julia Zemiro angrily told cameras to back off. “My story was on the front page for the sole reason that it was a painful reminder to women that it can happen in Parliament House and can truly happen anywhere,” a strained and visibly distressed Higgins told the crowd.
