Amid the near-constant discussion of when things will open back up and return to normal, area faith leaders are encouraging people to stop for a moment, reflect and grieve on the loss the coronavirus pandemic has caused during the past year.
Two area churches are doing that through flag displays outside their buildings where people can see a physical representation of the lives lost to COVID-19. Both displays use small flags, each representing 1,000 lives lost. It s just a way to try to bring some visual representation to all the mind-numbing numbers, said the Rev. Adam Metz, senior minister at Alum Creek Church in Lewis Center. We wanted to provide some visual representation to help us appreciate the magnitude of lives affected by this pandemic and help remind us that every single life lost deserves our lament.
