Holmen native shot in the line of duty

It happened during a dispute at an apartment complex in Houston, Texas.
According to a GoFundMe page organized by the officer’s sister-in-law, Sam Cleveland was shot in the arm and abdomen.
As of Monday, he was listed in stable condition.
Cleveland has worked in law enforcement for eleven years and previously was an officer in the Trempealeau area.
He is a 2004 graduate of Holmen High School.
A GoFund Me account has been set up for Officer Cleveland.

Clark shines as Sparta gymnastics win competitive McLellan Invitational

A strong performance from Savannah Clark helped Sparta gymnastics win a competitive McLellan Invitational Saturday at Holmen High School.
Clark won beam and uneven bars to take the all-around with a score of 36.050. Teammate Ella Hemker finished third in the all-around and won the vault with a 9.075.
Holmen’s Harley Bartels and G-E-T/Melrose-Mindoro/Cochrane-Fountain City’s Abby Miller tied for first on floor exercise with scores of 9.225.
Sparta finished with a team-high score of 132.325. The G-E-T co-op came in second with 131.700 points, with Holmen a close third with 131.575. Onalaska finished fourth with a 125.500.
