Authorities in Hanoi have decided to shut down all dine-in services, barbershops, and hair salons following a recent spike in local COVID-19 infections.
The closure began at 12:00 pm on Tuesday and will last until further notice, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh said in a document issued on Monday evening.
Local eateries are still allowed to sell takeaway food.
Parties that attract many attendees, as well as activities and gatherings of many people at parks, flower gardens, and public locations are now banned.

Vietnam records 43rd death related to COVID-19
The patient was hospitalised at the General Hospital of northern Hai Duong province and his blood culture was identified as positive to multi-drug resistant Ochrobactrum anthropic bacteria. He was subsequently given a five-day course of antibiotics but it failed to alleviate the infection.
He was transferred to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi on April 25, where he was diagnosed with sepsis and cirrhosis ascites. On May 5, he was confirmed positive to coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
As conditions became worse, he died on May 23 night due to septic shock, multi-organ failure, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and SARS-CoV-2 infection with underlying condition noted as ascites in liver cirrhosis.

Hanoi authorities have locked down an apartment building following a confirmed coronavirus infection in an Indian boy, amid the continued epidemic spread in the capital city.
Thousands of residents of the Park 9 Building in the Times City urban area in Hoang Mai District have been requested to stay home from Saturday afternoon after a COVID-19 case was earlier reported, local authorities said.
A three-year-old Indian boy, residing on the 33rd floor of the building, tested positive for the virus on Saturday morning, Tran Van Vinh, a senior local official, told reporters.
