Several inner-city districts in Hanoi are facing major re-zoning activities over the next few years
So far this year a raft of initiatives in Hanoi have been revealed which could drastically change the landscape of the capital, from a zoning plan for four inner-city districts, Red River subdivision and bridge-building, and at least one smart city venture in the north of the city.
At the same time, across the country as a whole, land fever has swept cities and some rural areas after long-term plans were announced of possible new airport locations, causing people to frantically seek out deals, both officially and unofficially.

With the high school entrance exam over two months away, final-year students at middle schools in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are cramming for the test in back-to-back extra classes, hoping for a good performance in the pivotal assessment.
The high school entrance exam, held every year around June for ninth-grade students as well as independent candidates, acts as a standardized placement test for high schools in the two cities K-12 system.
Hanoi drug trafficker sentenced to death

A Da Nang court sentenced one man to death and a woman to life imprisonment on Saturday for storing and transporting five kilos of drugs.
The Da Nang People’s Court found Dang Thai Long, 45, guilty of storing and transporting narcotics and awarded him a death sentence. Bui Thi Thuy, 43, was given life imprisonment for illegally transporting narcotics.
According to the indictment, on September 17, 2019, Long and Thuy of Hanoi took a train to Da Nang in central Vietnam with a plan to transport drugs and sell them to local drug users.

Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a pickup truck crashed into three automobiles and two motorbikes along a street in Hanoi on Saturday afternoon.
The accident took place on Tan Mai Street in Hoang Mai District at around 2:00 pm, an eyewitness told
Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
The pickup truck was running on the road when it collided with three cars and two motorbikes traveling in the same direction.
Three people on the two motorcycles were injured, two of whom suffered serious wounds and were brought to the hospital for emergency treatment.
