DELANO, Pa. State police say it was in the parking lot of Brothers Truck Repair on Hazle Street where a young life was cut short.
An 8-year-old boy was riding a child-sized ATV in the lot when he was struck by a tractor-trailer and died.
Word of the devastating news spread fast through this small community; Jim Loftus got a call at work.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. There s a family-friendly rivalry that s practically baked into the recipe in Wilkes-Barre.
Of course, we re talking about the competition between Angelo s, Gerry s, and Ricci s pizzerias. The wife says that there s a difference in the sweet sauce, but she chooses Gerry s over Angelo s, so here I am, Anthony Dennis said while waiting for his pie outside of Gerry s.
It all started with legendary pizza owner Angelo Ricci.
After 15 years, Cathy Stephens canât believe her sisterâs killer has never been caught.
Her sister, Patricia Moreton, 35, was murdered Jan. 31, 2006, at her Hazle Street apartment in Wilkes-Barre. She died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Moretonâs family and friends gathered Saturday outside the Luzerne County Courthouse for a candlelight vigil to mark the 15-year anniversary of the unsolved murder.
âItâs God awful. Iâm not going to lie. I get so disgusted and you feel like giving up all hope, but I truly believe someday they will catch the person. I believe that in my heart. I just keep the faith,â Stephens said âI hope this person thinks of her every single day when they wake up.â
Sunday marks the 15-year anniversary since Moretonâs murder, which remains unsolved.
Patricia Moreton, 35, was murdered Jan. 31, 2006 at her Hazle Street, Wilkes-Barre, apartment. She died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Loved ones gather at the courthouse every year to mourn her loss and try to raise awareness that her killer was never located.
