HURON, SD – Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored employees for 740 years of combined service in addition to two employees for exceptional customer service skills at the hospital’s Employee Awards Presentation on Friday, January 8, 2021, at the Legacy Plaza Auditorium.
During the event, which was hosted at the hospital and online to accommodate social distancing, 38 employees from 19 departments were recognized for sharing their hearts and years of service, ranging from 5 to 40 years, with hospital patients. Employees in attendance enjoyed a meal while reflecting on 2020 and celebrating the care provided by all in attendance.
In addition to the service awards, HRMC recognized two employees with special awards. Tom Miner, who has worked as a certified physician assistant (PA-C) in HRMC’s emergency room for more than four years, was selected by the HRMC board of directors to be the 2020 Exceptional Employee of the Year from the 12 monthly exceptiona

Cerner announced this past week that it has inked deals with new hospital customers in Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico and South Dakota to upgrade to its CommunityWorks electronic health record model.

CommunityWorks, a cloud-based version of Cerner s Millennium EHR, tailored for the clinical, financial and operational needs of small and midsize critical access hospitals.
Huron Regional Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Huron, South Dakota, will deploy CommunityWorks across multiple facilities, including the main hospital, a women s health clinic and a physicians clinic. HRMC serves a population of more than 37,000 across seven counties in eastern-central South Dakota.

Even though the pandemic called for some changes this year, the Prostrollo Motor Sales One-Mile Breast Cancer Walk raised $2,245 for breast cancer awareness. Walk registrations, donations and raffle ticket sales contributed to the total which benefits the HRMC Foundation We’ve Got You Covered fund. The fund is used to provide no-cost mammograms to women in need and promote early detection activities. Special thanks to everyone at Prostrollo and those who attended for your help and generosity.
