HURON, SD – Despite the annual Runnings’ Ladies Night Out event being cancelled due to the pandemic, the Huron team raised $2,769 to help support breast cancer awareness and early detection during the month of October.
This year’s fundraising took the form of several online “bucket auctions” in addition to sales of pink ribbons for $1 each. The effort is led by Laura Snowden of Runnings and was supported by staff selling ribbons and gathering items for the bucket auctions from vendors and local businesses.
“Even though it was unsafe to host a large gathering like we’ve done in the past, my staff was passionate about raising funds for this important cause,” said Shane Hood, store manager. “I’m grateful for our employees who coordinated the silent auction donations and encouraged shoppers to purchase pink ribbons to honor a loved one touched by breast cancer.”
