Man arraigned for assault with attempt to murder in Huron Township A 31-year-old Belleville man has been arrested by Huron Township Police in connection with the stabbing of a 20-year-old male that occurred in Huron Township Friday morning. Maurice Lashane Turner was taken into custody by police following the stabbing incident in the 28000 block of Spruce Dr. that happened about 12:45 a.m. Friday, said Everette Robbins, director of public safety for the township. Upon arrival, first responders located the male victim who had multiple stab wounds, Robbins said in a press release Monday. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Huron Township man facing charges in fatal shooting

A Huron Township man Kalin Karvelis, 25 is facing charges in connection with the fatal shooting of his mother, Julie Lee Karvelis, 53, and the non-fatal shooting of his father, Victor Karvelis. The suspect was to have been arraigned Monday morning at 34th District Court in Romulus on first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and two counts of felony firearm, said Everette Robbins, director of public safety for the township. The charges were issued by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, Robbins said in a press release Monday. On Friday, Huron Township Police were called to the Karvelis home in the 38020 block of New Boston St. at approximately 8 a.m. when an off-duty police officer and neighbor saw the defendant and the elder Karvelis outside. The defendant had a knife in his hand and made stabbing motions at his father, Robbins said.
