Hulett, 68, submitted his resignation letter Thursday, writing: “I am truly thankful for the opportunity to serve my city these past ten years.”
Hulett was arrested early April 25 on a misdemeanor DWI charge and released later that day on $1,000 bond. That charge was upgraded to a felony this week after authorities determined that he had twice before been arrested on similar charges.
Court records show that Hulett was arrested by Fort Worth police in 2007 on a DWI charge. KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported that he crashed into another vehicle and his blood alcohol content was found to be 0.122. Hulett was sentenced to 90 days in jail and two years of probation in that case.
