Innovative “Earn While You Learn” Program offers Effingham residents a cost-free way to begin a rewarding career in EMS
WHAT:
County Board Chair Jim Nieman and representatives from Lake Land College will join Abbott EMS for the graduation of its inaugural “Earn While You Learn” academy in Effingham. The celebration comes as part of National EMS Week, which recognizes the important contributions of Emergency Medical Service professionals.
Abbott, a subsidiary of American Medical Response and part of the Global Medical Response family of companies, launched the award-winning Earn While You Learn program as a way to ease the financial transition for those wanting to become EMS professionals. The innovative program allows for paid on-the-job training while taking the necessary certification courses to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
