(Enterprise photo — Andy Flynn) LAKE PLACID After taking the weekend off, construction crews upgrading Main Street plan to continue their excavation of the water main from Monday to Friday, according to Haley Breen, community development director for the town of North Elba and village of Lake Placid. Crews expect to install 100 feet of 16-inch water line each day, working from the north end of the village. They will pressure-test and disinfect the new water line from Saranac Avenue to Hayes Street and will begin connecting services to each building in that area once test results are approved.

Dereham Town Council said it was  appealing for witnesses to the destruction of an established tree at the play area on Hillcrest Avenue, in Toftwood.  The tree has been stripped of bark by an axe or similar tool, and as a result of the damage the tree is likely to die.

(News photo Andy Flynn) LAKE PLACID Construction crews upgrading Main Street expect to continue excavating for the new water main from Monday, May 3 to Friday, May 7, according to Haley Breen, community development director for the town of North Elba and village of Lake Placid. Sections of the water main will be chlorinated and pressure tested from Saranac Avenue to the Great Adirondack Brewing Company. After it is tested and approved, another crew will start making connections to the buildings in the coming week if they can’t get to it during the week of Monday, April 26.
