Cape Fear Christian Academy leader resigns after arrest of Tammy Moran

Moran, 45, of Cottle Lake Drive in Coats, was charged March 19 with three counts of sexual activity by a substitute parent/custodian, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office. Lawyers for the alleged victims, who are not from Harnett County, said that the students boarded with Moran while attending classes at the school. One student lived at the Moran home between 2018 to 2019; the second began living there in 2020, the lawyers said. Moran was arrested after the mother of one of the boys called the Harnett County Sheriff s Office to the school on March 17, court records show. According to the Harnett County Sheriff s Office, Moran was released Tuesday on $30,000 bail. Her next appearance in Cumberland County District Court is May 25. If the case is indicted by a grand jury before then, Moran will next appear in Superior Court.
