DALLAS - Dallas police now say six people were shot in Hamilton Park as a Fourth of July celebration turned violent and deadly.
Three of the gunshot victims died. The original number of people shot was thought to be five.
It was a very tragic evening, said Rev. Dr. Sheron Patterson, Hamilton Park United Methodist Church. Those young people that were killed those people who were harmed in the shooting just the trauma in the neighborhood.

DALLAS There are 190 black-and-white photos staked into the ground in front of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.
The display has been there for weeks, and the common thread between them is evident: they are all persons of color. It s not just one name and one hashtag, you see a whole yard, explained Denita Jones.

DALLAS A growing number of churches and schools are opening as community vaccine clinics in Dallas County.
Neighbors in the Hamilton Park area of North Dallas visited the COVID-19 testing site and vaccine clinic at a local church on Wednesday.
”We’ve got about 749 houses in this community,” said Art Mosely with Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.
The church partnered with Palmer Pharmacy Plus, and other agencies, to run a drive-thru and walk-up COVID-19 testing site. The groups made doses of the Pfizer vaccine available.

“We see the buds on the trees after a long winter. We see the sun rising every morning,” my nephew Sam Wilgus tells me. He’s an Anglican priest, the rector of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Willow Park, near Fort Worth. “These are tactile reminders of what God is doing, which is essentially bringing life out of death.”
