It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jerome Busler Gholson, age 85, longtime owner and operator of Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro & Dahlgren, IL. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL with his beloved daughters by his side.
Jerome was born at home on the family farm April 30th, 1935 in rural Saline County, IL to his parents Elmo & Abbie (Busler) Gholson. He was known by many people throughout Southern Illinois for his dedicated service as owner and operator of Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro & Dahlgren for over 55 years. Jerome was a second generation funeral director, following in the footsteps of his father Elmo Gholson, who started the family business in 1947. He previously served as an EMT for Gholson Ambulance Service for many years. He was also a US Army veteran, having served stateside during the Vietnam War era at Fort Lewis, Washington. CINCINNATI (FOX19) - An 18-year-old died in a crash that closed Westwood Northern Boulevard in Westwood Wednesday, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office confirmed Thursday morning.
Kristopher Gilmore, 18, was killed in the crash shortly before 5:30 p.m., they said.
Police at the scene reported serious injuries, including at least one person trapped in a vehicle.
Speeding appears to be a factor in the crash, according to Cincinnati police.

A Cincinnati family wants more answers after a rural Kentucky deputy shot and killed their loved one on May 29.
Photos of 48-year-old Terry Jackson are circulating on social media with the hastag #JusticeForTerry as family tries to bring attention to the officer-involved shooting that led to his death.
âSomeone may get away with something that they donât deserve to get away with,â said LaTrisha Fail, Jacksonâs niece.
She said her uncle lived in Maysville, Kentucky, and left behind three children, the youngest of whom is three years old.
