Indiana schoolboy chokes up as he recalls surviving prom night crash that killed his friend, 18, and her high school sweetheart
Jaxon Smith had to stop to collect himself as he recalled Saturday s deadly crash while en route to his high school prom in Arcadia, Indiana
Smith suffered a concussion, a cut on his upper lip and a possible tear to his right rotator cuff as a result
His girlfriend, who was not named, was with him in the back seat, and also survived the smash
But Smith s longtime friend Kalen Hart, 18, and her boyfriend Lendon Byram, both died when an SUV T-boned Byram s Honda

Lendon Byram and Kalen Hart, from Indiana, were photographed smiling together at his aunt s house on Saturday afternoon, shortly before the fatal crash. The pair were on their way to the home of Kalen s mother, Jody Conaway, when they collided with an SUV at about 5:15pm.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly spelled Lendon Byram s name.
Two high school students were on their way to the Hamilton Heights prom Saturday evening when they were killed in a vehicle wreck.
The Hamilton County Sheriff s Office identified the students as Lendon Byram and Kalen Hart. Byram was driving and Hart was the front-seat passenger.
Two other high school-aged passengers in the backseat of the car were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff s Office.
