It’s a sporting school, dominated by the entitled antics of the boys’ American football team. Their leader and quarterback Mitchell Wilson (Patrick Schwarzenegger) is, not to put too fine a point on it, a dick, who lords it over the entire school and assumes every female student is just dying to sleep with him if only he would give them the chance.
“It’s just Mitchell,” Vivian and her friends say when the conceited oaf inappropriately touches someone or makes an offensive remark; they’ve grown so used to his appalling behaviour they hardly even notice it any more.

At what point does an overdue sequel become an ill-starred sequel? It doesn’t seem to be simply a matter of years.
More than half a century after the original, Mary Poppins Returns (2018) yielded box-office numbers to please everyone at the Fidelity Fiduciary Bank and beyond. But after a mere 35-year gap, and despite being pretty darned good, Blade Runner 2049 stumbled.
The success of long-delayed sequels is not always determined by quality, nor by appetite. I don’t recall a clamour for a new Mary Poppins and it was a film I didn’t greatly care for, but it still worked £250 million worth of magic.

COMING 2 AMERICA: There’s an unusually restrained Eddie Murphy in this one. You can watch this film with the family. The language and the jokes are tame. The moral is politically correct. Not what you’d expect from him, especially since he’s working again with Craig Brewer, who directed him in
Dolemite Is My Name. That one was raunchy and funnier than this. The main draw here is hope that it might be as cheeky and entertaining as the original, which came out 33 years ago. It almost is, in a much milder way, and relies on a lot of references back to it. And several actors reappear, including Arsenio Hall (who, like Murphy, plays multiple roles), James Earl Jones, John Amos, Shari Headley, and some surprise cameos.
