Investigation into the
cricket betting and extortion case revealed that the arrested gang members of the syndicate have been running the racket for last five years in the city. It was also revealed that the minor youths who lost huge money in the betting had stolen cash from their own houses to fulfill the demands of the gang, said officers of crime branch (unit 4), which has apparently received such complaints.

Capgemini India Pvt Ltd, on a private complaint filed by a woman employee of the company accusing them of cheating and threatening her. The sessions court observed that the lower court had not followed the provisions of section 202 of Criminal Procedure Code (
CrPC), which allows the magistrate to postpone issue of process until s/he inquire into the case or directs for an investigation by a police officer.

A special court on Monday convicted three men in connection with the kidnap, gangrape and murder of a software engineer in 2009.
While hearing the case , the special judge L L Yenkar also held the trio Yogesh Raut, Mahesh Thakur and Vishwas Kadam guilty of robbery, misappropriation of property (possessed by the deceased) and criminal conspiracy.
