PMC aims for just 10% pvt vehicles on roads by 2031 BySupriya DedgaonkarSupriya Dedgaonkar / Updated: Jul 17, 2021, 06:00 IST Pune Municipal Corporation ( PMC) now has a new vision to chase and in a decade’s span the civic body wants to promote non-motorised transport in a way that 50 per cent people should ideally be walking or cycling, 40 per cent people using public transport and only 10 per cent private vehicles should be on road. Activists and residents however lament that the civic body should first check their previous records of failed stints and then go on to make such claims. The PMC has prepared a detailed plan for strengthening facilities for pedestrians and cyclists to ensure that they use these two modes to commute for shorter distances.
