LONDON, ONT. Hugh and Thelma Schomburg had a plan after getting their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in London. “We’re going for breakfast!” an elated Hugh told CTV News Friday morning. The pair acknowledge health officials recommend they still practice physical distancing and take precautions, but after a year inside, they wanted to give themselves one brief outing. The Schomburgs, both in their 80s, were among the first seniors to line up at the Western Fair District Agriplex, the largest vaccination centre in the London region. “Waiting a long time for it, so, we’re quite happy to be getting here and getting here early. Our son set it all up for us,” Hugh says.

The beach-house battle continues on South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach.
The Architectural Commission has given the cold shoulder to the design of a new house planned for a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic and the coastal road just north of Mar-a-Lago’s Beach Club.
At its most recent meeting, board members spent an hour reviewing the courtyard-centered house designed for 1015 S. Ocean Blvd. in the Estate Section. The majority of commissioners agreed the contemporary-style residence was overscaled for its lot. And they raised eyebrows about the four zoning-code variances being requested to accommodate the design.
“The variances are causing a problem,” said Commissioner John David Corey, because they would allow the house “to be far too big.”

MOODY – A regular meeting of the Moody City Council on Monday, Feb. 8 heard reports from department heads, the announcement of the second vaccine clinic, and approved a rezoning request from two residents for 147 acres of land.
At the beginning of the meeting, Public Works Director Mike Staggs announced that the second round of COVID-19 vaccinations will be held on Feb. 18. The Alabama Department of Public Health will host a two-dose clinic at the Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
However, according to the center’s Facebook page, the clinic is for those who received their first vaccine on Jan. 21. Those who received that first vaccination may return on Feb. 18 to get a second.
