Thomas has been with Crowleyâs Ridge Development Council since mid-2018. He was an assistant to former Craighead County Judge Ed Hill for almost eight years before that, and he served as a special projects coordinator under mayors Doug Formon and Harold Perrin before that.
Prior to local government work, he was an educator.
Copenhaver said Thomasâ background made for an ideal selection.
âTony has experience in different areas,â Copenhaver said Wednesday. âI got to know him well when he worked for Ed ⦠and then I also understand when I was in state government, the importance of CRDC and how he was working with grants. So the overall picture, he gets it, and very few people have that experience.â

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - As a new year is set to start, Jonesboro city officials said Thursday that they would keep city operations under guidelines set due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a post on the Jonesboro city Facebook page, incoming Mayor Harold Copenhaver said city council meetings would remain virtual in the coming weeks, and staff who can work from home will be rotated by departments to avoid spreading the virus.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Even the rain couldnât stop a surprise parade held for retiring Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mayor-elect Harold Copenhaver knocked on Perrinâs door, and then everyone was greeted by dozens of cars.
Drivers honked, waved, and even had signs for Mayor Perrin, all wishing him a great retirement.
None of this wouldâve been possible without the secretive work from Mayor Perrinâs family and the city employees.
