While the virus is more likely to kill men than women, mothers have been significantly overrepresented among “essential workers.” Mothers have also lost a disproportionate number of jobs and economic opportunities resulting in a “shecession,” provided exponentially more care to children learning from home and sick family members and experienced marked declines in overall physical and mental health. There is mounting evidence that these economic, health and emotional tolls are incontrovertible.

Premium Content Police have found the bodies of two people believed to be Doreen Langham and her ex-partner Gary Hely in the ruins of a Browns Plains townhouse ravaged by fire. The bodies were found on Monday night, more than 12 hours after police and emergency services were called to the gated complex. Investigators are this morning at the scene of a double fatal house fire, sifting through the rubble of what was once a two storey brick unit in the Myola St gated community. A woman called police for help from her Browns Plains townhouse hours before it was burnt down with her inside.
Police acknowledged on Tuesday that their response to that call would form a central part of a coronial investigation into Doreen Langhamâs death.
Two bodies, believed to be Ms Langham and her former partner Gary Hely, were found among the remains of her rented townhouse south of Brisbane, which was gutted by fire on Monday.
