On Tuesday, Hutchinson Schools recognized Jenny Sullivan for her outstanding service to USD 308 by awarding her as the 2021 Classified Employee of the Year. Sullivan has been with the district since August of 2014, working as a Modified Specialized Para for Hutchinson High School.
She was honored in a surprise ceremony at the school Tuesday morning.
According to a press release, she is an enthusiastic team member that knows the importance of building positive relationships with her students and her co-workers. She works with students in the community as well as the classroom.
Sullivan’s insight and compassion for the challenges that we all face is part of what makes her the exceptional worker that she is, the press release said.

Dillon Food Stores announced celebratory plans to mark its centennial year with service to Kansas communities. Throughout 2021, Dillons plans to recognize its principles and values along with customers, associates and communities that have made the past 100 years successful.
“The 100th anniversary of Dillons is a monumental milestone,” said Steve Dreher, president of Dillon Food Stores. “In reflecting back, I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard our customers refer to one of our locations as ‘my Dillons’ and it always brings an overwhelming sense of pride.”

Hutchinson dance studio ArtisTree is pleased to perform their 42nd annual spring recital at the Historic Fox Theatre.
The performance Magnificent DanceScapes is set for 7:30 p.m. May 21 and 22 at the Fox, 18 E. 1st Ave. in Hutchinson.
The event is free to the public, with donations for the Fox Building Preservation Fund gladly accepted.
Seating is limited, and guests are asked to follow the Fox s social distancing and mask requirements.

The Kansas town of Nicodemus will host the 143rd Emancipation Celebration outside in 2021.
The celebration will take place July 29-Aug. 1, and will feature traditional events such as the parade, 5K Run/Walk, baseball game and children’s activities. There will be a host of live events on social media platforms for everyone’s enjoyment as well.
To allow people to gather safely, enjoy food, drink, and live entertainment, the event s planners will have hand sanitizer available throughout the park and will be following local guidelines. Masks are encouraged to be worn inside the building. We are thrilled to welcome everyone back this summer to celebrate our 143rd year as we are looking ahead to a brand new day. the planning organization stated.
