The field of candidates hoping to fill the open 48th state Senatorial District seat has attracted a lot of interest with multiple candidates seeking the Republican and Democratic nominations as well as now features a third-party candidate.
The seat, which opened up as the result of the Jan. 17 death of Dave Arnold, is set to be filled in a special election scheduled for May 18. That date coincides with the primary election.
The winner of the seat – which represents a district that includes all of Lebanon County and parts of Dauphin and York counties – will serve the remainder of Arnold’s term which expires Nov. 30, 2022.

Dave Manns spotted it Wednesday and had no idea what it was.
“At first, I thought it might have something to do with the sewer system,” he said, having noticed crews in the area, where that kind of work is often done. Other residents thought it might be a gunshot detector.
It turns out, the pole and cylinder make a 5G cell tower. And it’s among the first dozen or so to spring up in Harrisburg. Eventually, there will be about 100 of them, according to the city engineer, and that’s just for one carrier: Verizon. If other companies transition to new technology to improve data speed, there could be many more in the future.

The Dauphin County Commissioners recently awarded $6.1 million to municipalities, schools and organizations in the county.
The funds are from the gaming dollars from Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in East Hanover Township and available through the casino local share revenue program.
The Dauphin County Gaming Advisory Board presented recommendations to the commissioners for recipients of funding. Those recommendations were made following application and hearing processes. (Gettysburg) The Adams County Republican Committee of Pennsylvania released a statement Sunday saying it condemns, in the strongest terms, the actions of Senator Pat Toomey for his failure to defend the Constitution and the freedoms it guarantees.
The censure follows Toomey s decision to vote to convict former President Trump related to January s violent attack on the US Capitol.
