Man arrested following large drugs seizure in Sligo Town Published: Friday, 30 April 2021 13:48 Gardaí have arrested one man and seized €65,000 worth of suspected cocaine following the search of a property in Sligo town yesterday. Gardaí attached to Sligo Garda Station conducted a search of an address in Sligo town shortly after 9pm last night. During the course of the search Gardaí discovered and seized a large quantity of white powder, suspected to be cocaine (pending analysis). It is believed to be worth approximately €65,000. Gardaí also found and seized a small quantity of cannabis, mobile phones and weighing scales. One man, in his mid-20s, was arrested at the scene.

Man arrested following seizure of €65,000 of suspected cocaine in Sligo Reporter:   ); Gardaí have arrested one man and seized €65,000 worth of suspected cocaine following the search of a property in Sligo town on Thursday April 29, 2021.   Shortly after 9pm on Thursday Garda attached to Sligo Garda Station conducted a search of an address in Sligo town.   During the course of the search Gardaí discovered and seized a large quantity of white powder, suspected to be cocaine (pending analysis). It is believed to be worth approximately €65,000.     One man, in his mid-20s, was arrested at the scene. He is currently detained at Ballymote Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Man (73) is jailed for abuse of three young boys

A Summerhill College teacher, a Sea Scouts leader and a person who was described as trusted in the community was sentenced to one year and 9 months in prison for sexually assaulting three teenage boys in the late 70s and 1980s at Sligo Circuit Court yesterday (Monday, February 1st). Edward Tighe (73) of Salmon Court, Ballisodare pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault in 1978, 1982 and 1986, during the time he was an English and Latin teacher in Summerhill. The case, heard by Judge Francis Comerford, was told that one of the victims, Patrick Walsh, wanted to waive his right to anonymity. All three men had harrowing Victim Impact Statements read out in court which detailed the serious consequences the abuse they suffered had on them, their families and their relationships in the decades that followed.
