On 8 April 2021, Ambassador Dr. Palitha Kohona met the Deputy Governor of Henan He Jinping and the Deputy Mayor of Zhengzhou, Wu Fu Min. He was received warmly. The Deputy Governor detailed the current economic performance of the rich Henan province. He stated that its historical and current strategic strength as a vital railway and highway hub in the center of China is outstanding and that the province is enriched with diverse culture, especially Buddhist tradition, educational opportunities and international connections.
