Former Longmeadow Center School PTO treasurer charged with larceny, accused of stealing more than $30K

LONGMEADOW The former treasurer for the Center School Parent Teacher Organization is accused of stealing more than $30,000 from the organization over a three-year period, allegedly using some of the money to pay student loans and credit cards, according to court records.
Longmeadow resident Keri Fazio, 39, is charged with larceny over $1,200, according to a criminal complaint filed in Springfield District Court. Her arraignment is set for July 14.
In a statement to The Republican, Fazio’s attorney, Daniel Hagan, maintained her innocence.
Edgar Gomez-Diaz charged with attempted murder in Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD A 36-year-old city man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for a Monday afternoon shooting a block away from police headquarters that left a man hospitalized with serious injuries.
Edgar Gomez-Diaz is charged with armed assault with a firearm with intent to murder, possession of a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and malicious destruction of property.
The malicious destruction charge is the result of one of the gunshots striking and causing damage to the masonry on a nearby building, said police spokesman Ryan Walsh.

SPRINGFIELD After 20 years on the bench and many of those years spent in the Roderick L. Ireland Courthouse Judge John Payne thought there were no mysteries left for the building on State Street to hold.
Payne, set to retire May 29 as presiding justice of Springfield District Court, knew all the rhythms of the building, every corner, shadow and hallway as well as the staff who made the courthouse hum. But there was one day he turned to regard a framed document that hung in his chambers and the first justices before him for a century.

SPRINGFIELD - A 23-year-old city man is facing drug trafficking charges after he was found with 300 bags of heroin and more than 40 grams of crack cocaine early Thursday on Fernwald Street, police said.
Jerome Williams is charged with trafficking between 36 and 100 grams of cocaine, distribution of heroin, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle, and illegal possession of an electric stun gun.
