STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Andrew Yang, a former Democratic presidential candidate and current frontrunner in the race for NYC mayor, came to the rescue of a photojournalist who was attacked Friday on the Staten Island Ferry.
Yang was traveling on the 11 a.m. boat from Manhattan to Staten Island for a tour of the borough, accompanied by his press staff and a few members of the media, including Getty photographer Spencer Platt.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y While for many the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hindered business and new projects, the Sandy Ground Historical Society has used the time spent at-home working on revitalizing Sandy Ground for reopening.
Sandy Ground, located in Rossville, was founded in 1827 as a farming village by people who were freed from enslavement. It was originally called Harrisville.

That’s why when award-winning children’s author and illustrator Michael Garland who grew up in Great Kills was searching for an idea for his latest picture book, he looked to his childhood memories of riding the Staten Island Ferry.
