Suburban girl in need of kidney transplant after rare diagnosis
HELP ELIZABETH: A Joliet family is desperately searching for a kidney for their teenage daughter.
JOLIET, Ill. - April is National Donate Life Month and one Joliet family feels like they are on borrowed time as they desperately search for a kidney for their teenage daughter.
Life was a symphony for 14-year-old Elizabeth Reyes. The high school freshman was adapting to remote learning and soaking up family time.
Then, this past fall, she was suddenly diagnosed with a rare condition. Literally one morning, she woke up and she was limping, Stacey Reyes, Elizabeth s mom said. Her face fully started to change. It almost looked like her eyes were sort of bulging out of her face a little.
