Marine energy techology firm ORPC has contracted Sustainable Marine’s Swift Anchors division to provide its novel rock anchoring system for ORPC’s Advanced TidGen Project set to launch in Maine later this year.
Swift Anchors will be among a number of subsystems which ORPC will develop, test and integrate to validate a full TidGen system in a commercial site over 12 months, providing practical demonstration that it is technically, economically and environmentally viable.
The US Department of Energy is providing partial funding for the project.
ORPC chief executive officer Stuart Davies said: We’re excited to use Swift Anchor technology for our Advanced TidGen Project and across ORPC’s scalable technologies for river, tidal and ocean current environments.

Pressure mounts on Community Care to reverse changes to eligibility criteria 14th May 2021
Pressure mounted yesterday for Community Care Ltd to reverse changes introduced last year to eligibility criteria for its ‘community officer scheme’, with campaigner and Unite the Union claiming the sudden change had left many people facing financial hardship.
Campaign group Community Care Action Group wants the charity to revert back to the previous criteria and pay arrears to those who have missed out on the allowance due to the change.
The group said it had engaged in dialogue with both Community Care and the Gibraltar Government, which funds the charity, but that its 184 members were frustrated at the lack of progress to a solution.
