A town councillor has expressed his astonishment at the “illogical” positioning of signposts in the middle of pavements by a county council promoting walking. The poles, which advise drivers of a new one-way system on Market Street, Llangollen, were installed on Monday by Denbighshire County Council. The signposts, on the junction with Castle Street, are part of active travel measures meant to encourage walking and cycling in the town, which have inspired more than 500 people to sign a petition against them. Local town councillor Stuart Davies called them “nice choke points introduced” making the pavement narrower for wheelchair and mobility scooter users and people pushing prams.
