In Clinton County, Carey is leading vote-getter

WILMINGTON In the counting of local votes Tuesday evening, Mike Carey was the leading vote-getter in Clinton County with about 56 percent of the Republican ballots cast.
These numbers reflect 28 of Clinton County’s 36 precincts, plus early voting and absentee ballots.
In Clinton County, State Sen. Bob Peterson is running second with 22 percent of the votes at this juncture.
On the Democratic ticket, Allison Russo had collected about 72 percent of the votes, here again with 28 precincts reporting as of 9:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Carey grew up around Sabina, and his campaign material touted him as the only candidate endorsed by former President Trump among the 12 GOP candidates in the congressional special election.

Tuesday s Republican primary election in Ohio offered a glimpse into what a primary challenge against Representative Liz Cheney could look like and the need for the GOP to rally around one candidate if they want their best chance at ousting the three-term legislator.
Cheney s had a target on her back ever since she voted to impeach former President Donald Trump and laid the blame for the Capitol riot at his feet. Trump s been urging Republicans to only put forth one challenger to Cheney to avoid what happened on Tuesday, where a crowded field of candidates split GOP votes.

COLUMBUS (WCMH) Voting is over in Ohio’s 15th congressional district in a special primary election Tuesday to determine who will advance to November’s general election.
Dr. Allison Russo has been declared the winner on the Democratic side of the ticket, defeating Greg Betts by a large margin. With 92 percent of the vote reported, Russo led 84.2 percent to 15.8 percent.
On the crowded Republican side, former coal executive Mike Carey fought off 10 other Republican candidates to come away with the nod. Carey is endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Carey led the field with 37.1 percent of the vote with 92 percent reported. His nearest competitor, Ron Hood, had 13.1 percent.
