Carey’s win over a crowded primary field that included better-established candidates showcased Trump’s power within the party at a key moment.
A week earlier, a Trump-endorsed candidate had lost a runoff election in Texas to another Republican calling into question the former President’s influence now that he is out of office and casting some doubt on his ability to settle scores with old rivals in next year’s midterm elections.

Cuomo urged to resign after probe finds he harassed 11 women
NEW YORK (AP) â New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo faced mounting pressure Tuesday to resign, including from President Joe Biden and other onetime Democratic allies, after an investigation found he sexually harassed nearly a dozen women and worked to retaliate against one of his accusers.
âI think he should resign,â Biden told reporters Tuesday, echoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and New York s U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, all Democrats.
The leader of the state Assembly, which has the power to bring impeachment charges, said it was clear Cuomo could no longer remain in office. Speaker Carl Heastie, a Democrat, said he would move to complete an impeachment inquiry as quickly as possible.â

Shontel Brown has narrowly won the Democratic primary to replace former Ohio U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge, according to a race call from The Associated Press, marking a victory for more moderate Democrats in the closely watched contest.

Turner had jumped out to a money and early polling lead in Ohio s 11th Congressional District, and had broader name recognition.
