Christmas in Middle-Earth: A Fantastically Geeky Fan-Made Lord of The Rings Christmas Album

Dear Mr. Colbert, I hope this email finds you well (big ask in 2020, I know). I’m a huge fan of yours, but more importantly, I believe we have something in common: we’re both huge fans of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. I’m writing to let you know that for the last 8 years, I’ve been writing and recording a Lord of the Rings Christmas album, and I finally just released it. It’s called Christmas in Middle-Earth. I’ve been wanting to get this to you since I started working on it, as you are the biggest Tolkien fan (expert) there is. And since you hosted your own Christmas special back in ’08 (I’ve still got “A Colbert Christmas” on DVD), you might be the only person in the world who would actually enjoy this on all intended levels. It’s entirely parody, and my personal love letter to the books, the films, and the breathtaking score by Howard Shore.

Herd immunity: Flawed science and mass vaccination failures -- Health & Wellness -- Sott net

Mon, 16 Jul 2012 11:53 UTC The oft-parroted sound bite - we need herd immunity - implies that if ninety five percent of the population can become immune to a disease via vaccination, target immunity levels will be met and diseases will either be eradicated or controlled. Herd immunity is the trump card for the defense of vaccination on TV, Internet, medical journals and newspapers as to why we should be vaccinated over and over throughout our lives, with an ever-increasing number of vaccines.

Covid 12/10: Vaccine Approval Day in America

LESSWRONG Today, the FDA is meeting to discuss Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine. By the time many of you read this, they will have hopefully given the vaccine, and perhaps Moderna’s as well, emergency use authorization. If that happens, distributions to the states can begin, and some people will be vaccinated as early as tomorrow. That is excellent news. Alas, supplies remain highly limited and the vaccine takes a month to work. States are getting smaller allocations of the vaccine than they expected. The situation for the holiday season remains unchanged, and most of us will likely not become immune until some time around May.
