Some of those customers have been on the books since the day Mr Dodds first started out in the King Street office. Born and raised in Norfolk, Mr Dodds, 66, has seen the 100-year-old company expand from its flagship town office into multiple locations throughout Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, all of which he was instrumental in developing.

Michael Baldwin, director of The Bank House and the Wenns Chop and Ale House, put it to MP James Wild that wet-led pubs would would not see any benefits from the five per cent reduced VAT rate for hospitality. “We have a lot of wet-led pubs in the area and they’re not getting the same support,” he said following last week’s BID Budget Briefing.

The virtual event, which was held in partnership with Stephenson Smart and Kenneth Bush, provided an opportunity to raise questions on the Chancellor s Budget Statement and the implication for businesses. West Norfolk MP James Wild said: The chancellor was honest about the challenges but what didn’t happen was the immediate tax rises which were expected. I don’t think this is a softening up exercise, I wouldn t rule out other changes coming.
