Cameras, police presence thwarting vandalism in city parks

HILLSDALE The Rotary Club has spent countless volunteer hours raising funds and working to make the parks system at Baw Beese Lake one of the premier destinations for families throughout the county and beyond.
Unfortunately, work that was done to bring life back into the parks was met with some vandalism in recent years.
Police Chief Scott Hephner said that while there have been some issues with spray painting on the basketball courts near Sandy Beach, issues with vehicles on the courts and even an instance where the glass backboards were shot out with a pellet rifle, police aim to mitigate these issues with presence patrols.

Commissioners approve Windtree Pines
The Mt. Juliet Board of Commissioners approved Windtree Pines on first reading Monday.
The project, which sits on the land where the Windtree Golf Course used to be, is 193 acres. It is planned to have 423 lots, 373 single family homes and 50 townhomes.
“Overall, I do like this development,” said Commissioner Jennifer Milele.
Milele had some issues like what the plan is to control flooding, Nonaville Road improvements and lighting in certain areas. The development has plans to widen Nonaville Road three lanes, including turn lanes into the project.
“This has tons of amenities, which I love,” said Commissioner Scott Hefner.
