View Comments The Sioux Falls Police Department is looking for a white SUV involved in a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist in the hospital. The hit-and-run occurred Saturday around 8 a.m. near 22nd Street and Minnesota Avenue, according to police spokesman Sam Clemens. Witnesses described a white newer model Jeep, possibly a Compass or Cherokee, on 22nd Street waiting to make a left turn and go northbound on Minnesota Avenue. When the light turned green and the walk sign lit up a bicyclist entered the intersection trying to cross Minnesota Avenue. The white Jeep hit the 60-year-old and her bike. The vehicle paused and slowed down for a moment but then drove away as the bicyclist laid in the street unconscious, Clemens said.

Rapid City police investigating homicide after stabbing victim dies View Comments A Rapid City woman has been charged with murder after a man died hours after a stabbing on Tuesday night in Rapid City. Police were called to an apartment at 10 Surfwood Drive at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a stabbing that had just occurred, according to a release by the Rapid City Police Department. A man had been stabbed in the chest and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.  Police say Ashley Peltier, 34, of Rapid City, stabbed James Rice, 30, of Rapid City. Peltier is being charged with aggravated assault and second-degree murder, according to the news release. Rice, who died Wednesday morning, was also known as Stanley Kennard III, police said.

Sioux Falls police investigating early morning gunfire incidents

View Comments Sioux Falls Police Department officials are investigating three different reports of gunshots Thursday morning, but they are unsure if the incidents are connected, according to police department spokesperson Sam Clemens. The first call came in at about 1:50 a.m. in the 1200 block of W. 10th Street. Residents in a house had to take cover after hearing the shots, Clemens said. Four shots hit the home and a wall outside was also hit. No injuries were reported, but some shots did go through a window. A video of a car in the area was shown to police. The second call came in at 6:20 a.m. at the 400 block of S. Summit Avenue, Clemens said. Four gunshots were heard, with police finding a couple of shell casings in the area. A fence next to the house was hit several times.
