Updated 3/16/2021 8:23 PM Elgin Area School District U-46 students now attending under the hybrid plan will return to in-person classes five days a week after spring break, officials said. The move comes on the heels of revised guidance from state health and education authorities relaxing social distancing rules from 6 feet to 3 feet for students and fully vaccinated school employees. Unvaccinated teachers are urged to remain 6 feet from students.   Superintendent Tony Sanders said an expanded in-person model is possible because 53% of U-46 students are learning remotely and will remain in that mode for the rest of the school year. The 47% of students who opted for hybrid instruction to start second semester will move to full in-person classes April 7.
