Wade Waddle is finding a way to give back. Waddle has spent his Christmas break off by collecting cans to help veterans have an all-expenses-paid journey of honor and remembrance to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C.
Waddle, a Master Sergeant in the Untied States Air Force, is collecting cans to help the Kansas Honor Flight send veterans to Washington, D.C. The idea for the can collection fundraiser came from McPherson native Warren Vincent, who established the Cans 4 Kansas Honor Flights over four years ago. I think it s a good mission, Waddle said. I like where the money goes. When I was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, I was able to go to a number of the honor flights returning back to Wichita, where they do a ceremony where the veterans are honored. The military members line up on both sides of them and salute as they come into the baggage claim area.
