Year in Review The year began with a bit of good news in January, as Sheridan made the list for True West magazine’s Top 10 True Western Towns. WDE: School Enrollment Declines Statewide – Sheridan Media

Student enrollment declined by nearly 2,000 this fall across the state in Wyoming’s 48 school districts to 91,938 kids in grades K-12. That is the first time enrollment has dropped under 92,000 since 2012, according to a release from the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE). Wyoming school district enrollment dropped from 93,832 students in the 2019-20 school year to 91,938 during the 2020-21 school year, losing a total of 1,894 students statewide. Ten districts saw an increase in enrollment while 38 saw decreases from the previous year. The largest increases in enrollment were in Niobrara County School District #1 that saw a 76.8% increase, or 607 students; Park County School District #16 with a 75.5% increase, or 74 students; and Big Horn County School District #1 with a 68.1% increase, or 729 students.
