Loop News Adult And Child In Heated Argument A pastor and public commentator has triggered widespread discussion following his suggestion that attempts by the government to implement policies that would force schools to move away from traditional methods of disciplining students, is having a negative effect on the efforts of educators to keep children in line. Pastor Christopher Johnson, who was a guest on a current affairs programme, discussing plans by the government to ban corporal punishment, said he was speaking on discipline in schools in a broader sense, not just beating. He said that  policies that have hindered schools from turning back students with some types of hairstyles, and those that would restrict schools from locking out students for uniform breaches, are placing too much restrictions on educators , who feel that their hands were tied.

Stepfather of dead 4-y-o slapped with multiple charges

Loop News The stepfather of a child who died after allegedly being beaten is facing multiple assault charges by the St. Catherine North Police.  Charged with unlawful wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, cruelty to child and child abuse is 24-year-old Shaun Bennett of Willowdene Through Way in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. Reports are that on Sunday, July 18, 4-year-old Nashaun Brown complained of not feeling well and was given a meal by his mother. He was allegedly eating slowly when Bennett became angry and proceeded to beat him with a stick.  Nashaun’s mother reportedly intervened and was also assaulted. Shortly after, the child became unresponsive and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
