The stepfather of a child who died after allegedly being beaten is facing multiple assault charges by the St. Catherine North Police.
Charged with unlawful wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, cruelty to child and child abuse is 24-year-old Shaun Bennett of Willowdene Through Way in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Reports are that on Sunday, July 18, 4-year-old Nashaun Brown complained of not feeling well and was given a meal by his mother.
He was allegedly eating slowly when Bennett became angry and proceeded to beat him with a stick.
Nashaun’s mother reportedly intervened and was also assaulted. Shortly after, the child became unresponsive and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The St. Catherine North Police have charged a 19-year-old man with the murder of his father in Browns Hall in St. Catherine on Sunday.
The Browns Hall Police say Romeo and his father, 48-year-old Ragrick Queensborough, otherwise called Wally, had a dispute on Sunday afternoon.

Twelve people were arrested for breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act during raids in Linstead and Spanish Town, St. Catherine on Thursday night into Friday morning.
An M16 rifle and 15 rounds of ammunition were found in an open lot in Greendale, Spanish Town.
Meanwhile, there was a cat and mouse game between the police and residents attending a party in Africa in the March Pen Road area.
