Noida: Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate on Monday recommended to the director general of medical education and training, Lucknow, to provide 340 additional Covid beds for Sharda Hospital. This is in addition to the 380 beds notified for the facility last month. Apart from that, 200 Covid beds will be added at the Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences (NIIMS), officials said.
Currently, the district has two government Covid facilities 250-bed Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, and 168-bed Noida Covid Hospital (NCH), Sector 39. While GIMS has an 80-bed ICU, NCH has 38 ICU beds. NCH also has 200 additional beds on standby. Both hospitals currently have an occupancy rate of 85-90% and with more patients seeking hospitalisation, officials said, efforts are on to prepare additional beds.

The ride-sharing player will provide free Rapido Auto rides to and from Covid- 19 vaccination centres for Delhi NCR citizens. It is offering a 100 per cent discount on rides up to ₹50 to all citizens in the region.
“The initiative is aimed at providing a safe and accessible commute option to senior citizens eligible for vaccination across Delhi NCR,” it said.
The announcement comes as the third phase of the vaccination drive begins today that includes people above the age of 45 years.
According to Dr Ajit Kumar, spokesperson, Sharda Hospital, one patient is 72.
He has comorbidities and tested positive a week after taking the first dose on March 25.
“He is under treatment and has mild infection,’ said Dr Kumar. The other person is 50 and he took the jab on March 22. He had fever for a couple of days after taking the vaccine. When the fever did not subside, he got himself tested and the report was positive. He is currently under treatment,” said Dr Kumar.
The third patient is a 21-year-old nursing student. She got herself vaccinated last month and tested positive on March 28. Dr Sunil Kumar, medical superintendent, Yatharth Hospital, said the two patients in the facility are a paramedic and the senior doctor from the facility. Both tested positive after the second dose.
