Pakistan hockey squad members who won gold medal at Rome Olympics in 1960.
After division of British India in 1947, new country Pakistan first participated at the Olympic Games in 1948 in London, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except when they participated in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Soviet Union. Pakistan athletes have won a total of ten medals, all at the Summer Olympics with eight of those in men’s field hockey. In 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics, Pakistan’s Syed Hadi Haider Naqvi did pick up a bronze medal in the demonstration sport of taekwondo, but as the sport was not given full status then, the medal was not recognized in the official tally. Pakistan has won two individual medals in the Olympics to date, both bronze medals: one in wrestling in Rome 1960 and one in boxing in Seoul 1988. Rome 1960 has been the most successful Olympics for Pakistan so far, with Pakistan winning two medals:
GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Tribunal on Saturday admitted for hearing petitions seeking to declare null and void the election of five ruling PTI members, including the chief minister and a technocrat, over use of corrupt practices and illegal means during the polls.
The Election Tribunal Judge Ali Baig set May 21 for regular hearing of the petitions.
The petitions have been filed against Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan, law minister Sohail Abbas, health minister Gulber Khan, local bodies minister Abdul Hameed Khan and technocrat Fazal Rahim, according to a press release issued by the Chief Court on Saturday.
The petitioners alleged that the respondents used illegal means to win the polls in their respective constituencies, which was a violation of the Election Act, 2017.
Man killed, two of family injured over marriage issue

TOBA TEK SINGH: A man was killed and two others were injured over a marriage issue near Pirmahal on Friday.According to the FIR, gypsy Imran of Chak Daadoana, Kabirwala, along with his 12 accomplices came to the makeshift huts of his relatives and allegedly opened indiscriminate firing. As a result, Ghulam Abbas was killed on the spot while his wife Shahzadi Bibi and brother Sohail Abbas were seriously injured.
Later, the accused abducted his 16-year-old sister Afshan Bibi and escaped. The accused persons wanted to marry their boy with Afshan, but the girl’s family had rejected the proposal. A police party has been sent to Kabirwala to recover the girl and arrest the kidnappers.The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 302, 324, 365, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government has announced Rs3 million for the deceased mountaineer, Mohammad Ali Sadpara’s family, and a suitable job for his son.
Ali Sadpara, John Snorri from Iceland and JP Mohr from Chile had gone missing on K2 on Feb.5.
Last week, the government declared them dead after failing to locate the missing climbers following a lengthy search and rescue effort.
