After a wet winter, the last couple of months have been quite dry, especially in the eastern half of our state.

Record lows were broken or tied Thursday in Asheville, Charlotte, Fayetteville and Raleigh
Record highs have been outpacing the number of record lows in recent decades
A 2016 study showed the number of record highs could outnumber the number of record lows by 15 to 1 at the end of this century
Several cities in the state tied or set a new record low for April 22.
In recent years, we have not seen many new record lows in North Carolina. Like much of the rest of the United States, the number of new record highs has been greatly outpacing the number of record lows over the last few decades.

Average last low temperature below 50 is in early to mid-April
Temperatures can drop below 50 degrees as late as May in Central Florida
While in our winter, temperatures can get close to 90 degrees as soon as February.
