New details have emerged of two projects set to be carried out in Carlisle, financed by a £1m funding injection from central Government. Carlisle City Council is preparing to begin two schemes financed through the national Government s Towns Fund initiative. A total of £850,000 will go towards preparing land adjacent to the Viaduct Estate Road, on the edge of the city centre, for a high quality housing development. A further £150,000 will go towards the creation of a temporary modular pod village in Bitts Park, to be used by local businesses and artists. The £1m funding was allocated to the council late last year, following the Government s decision to accelerate the delivery of a portion of the Towns Fund initiative as part of its efforts to help kickstart the economic recovery from Covid-19.
