A Newark man was sentenced today to 240 months in prison for his role as the leader of a heroin trafficking conspiracy in Newark, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced.
Federal Officials said Keith Herd, 33, of Newark, previously pleaded guilty by videoconference before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton to a third superseding indictment charging him with one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and distribution of and possession with intent to distribute heroin. Judge Wigenton imposed the sentence today by videoconference.

• The Delaware Police Department said a 2009 car valued at $5,000 was stolen on the 100 block of Equestrian Way, as reported at 10:40 a.m. April 23.
• Officers were called to a residence on the 200 block of Rock Creek Drive on a report of a burglary in progress at midnight May 2. The resident said she heard glass break and her dog became agitated. Officers found a broken window at the rear of the home, with no indication anyone had gained entry.
