The Minnesota Vikings, like most NFL teams, are looking at a salary crunch in 2021 due to the pandemic. Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph is 31-years-old with a $9.45 million cap hit, the seventh-highest figure on the team. After a statistically down season, he is expected to be asked to take a pay cut. He does not want to take a pay cut. You can see how this might be a problem for one or more of the parties involved.
Rudolph went on the Unrestricted With Ben Leber podcast this week and explained exactly why he wasn t going to take a pay cut. Transcribed by ESPN:

Saturday Open Thread
Good Morning, It’s Saturday!
Last Saturday I mentioned it had been four years since my son and I went to the Vikings-Jags game here in Jacksonville, this weekend was supposed to another away game for myself and mrs rob to go to; I was hoping to meet up with former DN front page writer KJSegall and any other DN’ers that made the trip to Tampa, but then Covid happened. As usual I blame Ponder, and as it turned out I have to work this weekend. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and beer recommendations; drop by for some fan wisdom, snark and it’s Saturday, time to start the smoker and keep the weekend rolling!
