The Canterbury health board’s cybersecurity systems intercept more than 1.5 million attempted hacks every week but has “capable and current” solutions in place to prevent an attack like the one against the Waikato District Health Board. Acting chief digital officer Savita Devi​ said the Canterbury District Health Board – the country’s second largest such organisation – was working closely with Crown security agency Cert NZ and other health boards to “ensure we have the necessary mitigations in place to protect ourselves against further attacks”.
